ARBORETUM

Oak Lawn’s Arboretum

Our arboretum brings stoic beauty to our peaceful property, and it is what sets us apart. It is with great pride that we carry the distinction of being officially recognized and certified as a Level II Arboretum through accreditation by The ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and the Morton Arboretum, the national organization for certification – click here for details. Only select organizations and businesses in Connecticut and across the nation are awarded this honor, based on an extraordinary collection of special, mature catalogued specimen trees adorning our landscape as well as educational programs highlighting their value. We offer walking tours where you can appreciate our beautiful property and trees in all their splendor.

The Arboretum Walking Tour

Take a stroll among the beautiful trees at Oak Lawn Cemetery & Arboretum. The tour begins with a gorgeous flowering dogwood (cornus florida) as you first enter Oak Lawn. You will enjoy not only the beautiful trees as you walk the grounds, but can view burial plots of prominent figures from Fairfield County and within surrounding communities. We also highly recommend perusing our recently-constructed Veterans Memorial Plaza.

Follow along with the tour to gain insight into our trees and their history. Each tree along the tour is tagged with botanical information and a number corresponding to our treemap, with botanic details, origin, and importance. You can pick up a brochure and map at the front office, download the PDF version or follow along with our interactive tour below.
